This selection of Wolfe's short stories is based half on works published during his lifetime (in the collection From Death to Morning), and half on works published posthumously (in the volume The Hills Beyond), written in 1934-37. Some of them were already printed before, during the author's lifetime, in literary magazines, with the exception of the short story There Is No Cure for This, which was not printed anywhere and was written earlier, in 1929.
