Anton Hansen Tammsaare, owned by Anton Hansen (born January 30, 1878, died March 1, 1940) - Estonian writer, educated as a lawyer.
He was the main representative of realism in Estonian literature. Initially he wrote naturalistic stories of village life. In his later works, especially in the novel cycle Tõde ja õigus (vols. 1-5, 1926-33), he included a panoramic picture of Estonian society at the turn of the 20th century. He was also the author of the fantastic satirical-grotesque novel The New Infernalist of Czartorya, as well as dramatic works and journalism.
