MAURIAC FRANCOIS
memoir of an interior life edition 1.
translated by Jadwiga Nałęcz
Warsaw 1964, Instytut Wydawniczy PAX, p. 277, format: 12.5x19.5 cm
Issue 1.
Although the title suggests a kind of autobiography or intimate diary, Mauriac refuses to recount his own life. Instead, he reveals to readers the world of his beliefs, experiences and experiences through the books that marked the path of his life, molding his heart, intellect and creativity. "Refusing to write down the history of his life, however, is not tantamount to concealing everything. By refusing to show the essence of who we were, we can be tempted to find its reflection in the books that were dear to it. We have been shaped by our reading, but at the same time we have imprinted our own mark on the books that played a serious role in our lives; by talking about them, we are at the same time talking about ourselves."
