One of the most interesting Polish political treatises by Hugon Kołłątaj (1750-1812), a famous Enlightenment politician, thinker, publicist, writer, co-founder of the May 3 Constitution.
The work, published anonymously, being an apologia for Emperor Napoleon and praise of the Duchy of Warsaw, also finds justification in the national raison d'état, current at the time, aiming at an alliance with France, in the further perspective of the division of the continent into two empires: western and Russian.
Kołłątaja sees the restoration of Poland both in the old borders in the east and the Piast borders in the west, inclusion with Silesia.
Rare.
