The book describes the history of Polish deportees to Siberia from the time after the fall of the Bar Confederation, when the first deportations took place, until 1923, when about 200,000 Poles were still in Siberia.
It includes, among other things: The first Poles in Siberia; For secret work before the November Uprising; From Batory to the Great Northern War; Memoirs of exiles for 1831 and 1833; Persecutions , conspiracies and deportations under Nicholas I after the November Uprising; The Polish uprising over Lake Baikal; Memoirs of exiles for 1863.
The last part of the work is devoted to Siberia in Polish literary works.
