Description of the author's expedition to Canada. Among other things, the author describes hunting in the wilderness and Indian culture. The novel features the character of Stanislaw - a Pole living in exile and leading the life of a trapper.
Fiedler describes Canada as he saw it, there are also numerous chapters on North American history. The author visited Canada both civilized and a few days away from human settlements. He describes the people and nature with great sensitivity. He presents the fate of the Poles he met who lived in Canada, as well as historical figures who had a major impact on the development of the new country. Some of the stories from the book: the Grey Owl, the war with the sparrows, the Iroquois, the Hudson's Bay Company, the Pokahontas, Mikolaj Szulc, Jan Flis.
Arkady Adam Fiedler (born November 28, 1894 in Poznań, died March 7, 1985 in Puszczykowo) - Polish novelist, reporter, naturalist and traveler, lieutenant of the Polish Army, member of the National Council of PRON in 1983.
