This book by Arkady Fiedler is a literary account of the author's two pre-war expeditions to the wilderness in South America. Together with Fiedler we follow the trail of its inhabitants. We observe the habits of the ostracod, armadillo, anaconda or anteater. The writer, himself greatly impressed by the animal world of South American forests, draws us into its colorful, wild and not fully understood by man.
