Henryk Nowina-Czerny (d. November 11, 1957 in Toronto) - Polish painter, graphic artist and interior designer.
Hans Fallada - literary pseudonym of Rudolf Ditzen (1893-1947), one of the most prominent German writers of the 20th century. The author has 27 novels to his credit, 13 of which appeared in Polish translation: until 1989 these were "Is there no return", "If we had a child", "Everyone dies alone", "Iron Gustav", "Wolf among wolves", "Notices and astray", "Everything different!", "Black ravine", "And what next, gray man?", and after 2000. "The Drunkard," reissues of "Everyone Dies Alone" and "And What Next, Gray Man?" in new translations, "In My Foreign Country - A Prison Diary 1944," "Man with Aspirations" and "Bane."
His enduring popularity is evidenced by the numerous film adaptations, theatrical adaptations and continuous reissues of his novels. The first full reissue of "Everyone Dies Alone" sold 80,000 pieces in Germany in the first week alone. Preparations for an international film adaptation, "Alone in Berlin," with an all-star cast (the leading roles were played by Emma Thompson, Brendan Gleeson, Daniel Brühl, among others), also began immediately.
The author was repeatedly treated in psychiatric clinics and sanatoriums for alcoholism and morphinism. He has twice served prison sentences. Many of his novels have received television adaptations, both in the form of films and miniseries. In November 2018. Non Stop Comics released "The Drunkard," a comic book adaptation of the novel of the same title, which at one time lived to see two television adaptations.
