Interesting memoirs of an officer of the 9th infantry regiment of the Duchy of Warsaw, a veteran of fighting in Spain, especially in the passages describing Spanish customs and mentality. The memoirs also cover captivity. The final chapter gives an extensive account of the siege of Zaragoza.
The author's daughter and also translator of his diary writes in the introduction: "As a good Polish woman, not wanting my father's manuscript to pass into the hands of a foreign nation as written in the German language, I made every effort to have the manuscript printed in our native language."
