Szymon Askenazy (born December 28,[1][2] 1865 in Zawichost, died June 22, 1935 in Warsaw)[3] - Polish historian of Jewish descent, mainly concerned with international relations in the 18th and 19th centuries. Professor at the University of Lviv and later Warsaw. In his political views he was close to the Legion-Piłsudski camp. Askenazy never subscribed to any political party. The founder of the Lviv school of history, also known as the Askenazy school.
Dzwonkowski, mentioning S. Askenazy wrote: "He was a Jew by origin and religion, a Pole - by choice and fondness, a European - by culture and ultimate civilizational ideals" ("Droga" 1935).
